What advice would you give a prospective med student?
Enjoy the process and journey! The path of becoming a physician is a long one, so be sure to slow down and take time to enjoy each step of the process. You get to experience things every day that you may never get to see again and connect with a wide variety of people!
Why did you choose Long School of Medicine?
Long School of Medicine has a fantastic atmosphere and environment that is cultivated by faculty and classmates who truly want you to succeed. Being one of the largest hospital systems in South Texas, some of the most unique cases from all over South Texas will be seen at our clinics and hospitals, so the clinical training is extremely well rounded. Additionally, every specialty is available for students to explore at any time with experienced faculty all connected to the medical school, so the connections and opportunities are widely available to students. These are a few big factors that made me choose UT Health San Antonio as my top choice for medical school and now that I am a part of this amazing, diverse class, everything I have experienced so far has reaffirmed my decision and I have enjoyed each step of the way!
Using 3 words, how would you describe the Long School of Medicine? Why?
Compassionate, Diverse, Welcoming. These are some of the core characteristics I have encountered as I have interacted with my classmates in my year as well as in other classes in addition to faculty. Every one has been very welcoming and I can confidently say that my classmates are always there for me. These are individuals that will be friends and colleagues for life!
